To reduce traffic in the nation’s capital, the Delhi government is anticipated to announce the start of 30 new projects, including double-decker flyovers and underpasses. According to sources, the city’s infrastructure projects will receive the largest capital outlay in the previous eight years of the AAP government. The current administration is concentrating on enhancing and beautifying the 1,400 km of roads in the city at the cost of roughly Rs 20,000 crore over ten years.
Budget Allocation
The Delhi budget, which totaled Rs. 75,800 crores last year, will be announced on 21st March and the AAP government budget will be presented for the first time by Minister Kailash Gahlot, who oversees finance.
The Delhi government has prioritized health and education since 2015, but nearly Rs 2,000 crore was set aside in the 2022–23 budget for building roads and bridges. Last year, 23% of the total budget was spent on education, while 15% was spent on health.
According to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the government’s strong emphasis on the education sector has benefitted students. He made comparisons between the top universities worldwide and the government’s School of Excellence.
Three double-decker flyovers, with cars using the lower decks and the metro using the upper decks, are being built, according to sources, and progress has been made. They are being built in collaboration between the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and the Public Works Department.
