Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister (CM) of Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia, has given the go-ahead signal for 2, Rs 12 Cr. to repair and redevelop the National Capital’s road infrastructure.
“The Delhi Government is working in a phased manner to strengthen the roads of Delhi as these roads were constructed long ago, they are currently in need of maintenance. Thus the work of maintenance and beautification is being started here now and to avoid any further inconvenience to the commuters, PWD officials have been asked to complete the work in the stipulated time and ensure all the safety guidelines,” said the deputy CM.
The PWD is utilizing cutting-edge equipment and technology during the strengthening operation to guarantee durable roadways throughout Delhi. Additionally, Mr. Manish Sisodia instructed the officials to adhere to the international standards for roadway design and to make sure that all safety and security requirements were met when maintaining the roads.
Project Details
The projects include culverts at six locations in the Najafgarh drain from Bharat Nagar to Timarpur, costing Rs 9.90 Cr., and restoration and improvement of the Andrews Ganj and Nehru Place flyovers, costing Rs 2.10 Cr.
The replacement of worn-out bearings as part of the Andrews Ganj and Nehru Place flyovers project will extend the life of the structures by up to 20 years and in a period of six months, the project should be accomplished. Another project will spend Rs 9.90 Cr to replace and repair six culverts in the Najafgarh drain from Bharat Nagar to Timarpur. These culverts’ repair has long been postponed. The task should be finished in nine months.
OP Bharti Marg and Road No. 42 from Haryana Maitri Bhawan to Parwana Road Cut and then to Outer Ring Road projects have also commenced.
They also include the internal lane from Ratanpuri Chowk to Pusa Employment Exchange Gate and the road from Pusa roundabout to Dayal Chowk, Pusa Institute (IARI), among others.
It will cost Rs 8.55 million to improve the road between the Pusa roundabout to Dayal Chowk, the Pusa Institute (IARI), the internal lane from Ratanpuri Chowk to the Pusa Employment Exchange Gate, and OP Bharti Marg. A total of Rs 2.72 crore would be spent on the upkeep of Road No. 42 from Haryana Maitri Bhawan to Parwana Road Cut and then on to Outer Ring Road.

While sharing the details about the projects, Mr. Manish Sisodia said, “The Delhi government is working round-the-clock to ensure better road infrastructure. The PWD is regularly assessing infrastructure at various locations and ensuring their maintenance from time to time so that no inconvenience is caused to the commuters.”
“Following the same policy, two new projects have been approved recently. The repair and redevelopment of the Andrews Ganj and Nehru Place flyovers will increase the life of the flyovers by up to 20 years.”
While approving the projects, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “Under the vision of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to make the infrastructure of Delhi beautiful, safe and world-class, the Government is working on mission mode to strengthen and improve the infrastructure across the city.”
