agri-commodites register

Exporting agri-commodities from India to Dubai is a vigilant process. Once you have attained the order the next step is shipping, which requires a certain amount of paperwork.

All agri-commodities require a health care certificate and country origin certificate, for all plant products like dry pea, vegetables, and fruits, and so on, a special certificate called the Animal and Plant Health Inspection certificate would also be needed.

This certificate is issued by the health department of the Ministry of Environment and Water, the purpose of this certificate is to confirm the absence of any insect or pest and to meet all the laid down rules.

Furthermore, all the concerned certificates would need stamping and notary seal from the UAE embassy in India. Any certification lacking the notary seal is sent back within 5 days along with the shipment.

Other documents required with the shipment is Bill of lading, bill of entry, packing list, and original invoices for submission to the custom authority.

Other than the above-mentioned certificate followed are other documentation required to export from India to Dubai.

Labeling requirements

Most importantly, all the labeling has to be done in Arabic for all the consumer products exported to Dubai. In addition to the information specific to the food category, all labels are required to show the following information:

  • Description of the product
  • Ingredients
  • Country of origin
  • Net weight

While boxes of fresh vegetables and fruits must clearly show the required label information, they need not have on display production/expiry dates.

Some added information that cartoons should carry are

  • Country of origin
  • Details of the producer, importer/exporter, distributor, and manufacturer
  • Details of the vendor
  • Special preparation and storage instruction
  • Approval from the ministry of health before making any health claims

An import certificate from the municipality of Dubai is required before any agricultural product is cleared for import into the country. Food control and environmental laboratories of different emirates offer this function.

Additionally, the consignee had to obtain a license for the trading of food items in the country before exporting products. Certain agricultural commodities required the approval of the food control section of Dubai municipality’s public health department

These are:

  • Cereal, rye flour, wheat, groats, and meal
  • Rice as well as broken rice
  • Processed cereal products
  • Beef and veal
  • Eggs
  • Pig meat
  • Poultry meat
  • Milk and milk products
  • Processed fruits and vegetables
  • White and raw sugar that has not been processed further
  • Wine
