India is the largest sugar producer in the world but the Asian nation ranks second behind Brazil in terms of sugar exports. The country majorly exports sugar to Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates and diverts some of its domestic sugar production for ethanol production, after meeting its domestic consumption needs.
